As the summer holidays reach full steam, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is calling on families to swap screens for scenery and savour the sights, sounds and stories of classic railway travel.
Running daily until 31st August, this five-mile heritage line through the heart of West Yorkshire offers a unique summer experience that combines discovery, nostalgia and hands-on fun.
With flexible ticket options and something to see at every stop, it’s an ideal day out for families looking to try something different this August.
From the moment the steam engine rolls into the platform, visitors are transported into a living piece of British railway history.
Each station along the line offers its own charm and character, from the vintage exhibits at Ingrow’s two railway museums, to Oakworth Station, known worldwide from The Railway Children film.
Haworth Station, just a short stroll from the famous Brontë village, lets visitors get closer to the engines with a view inside the railway’s working locomotive workshops.
And at Oxenhope, the journey’s end brings a relaxed café, heritage displays, and plenty of space to unwind before heading home.
Younger visitors can spot signals, watch the engines up close and take part in interactive exhibits, while parents and grandparents enjoy a slower pace, breathtaking countryside, and the chance to introduce a new generation to the golden age of travel.
Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is easily reached by train, bus or car, with free or low-cost parking at several stations and family-friendly ticket prices available on the day or online.
