TWIXMAS MINCE PIE SPECIALS

TWIXMAS MINCE PIE SPECIALS

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is inviting visitors to swap post-Christmas hibernation for fresh air, heritage and a hint of festive nostalgia.

The railway’s much-loved Mince Pie Specials return for Twixmas. Running from Boxing Day to 4th January, the steam-hauled services offer a relaxed winter escape through the Worth Valley, complete with a complimentary mince pie for every passenger.

Operating along the same five-mile branch line made famous by The Railway Children, the specials give families, day-trippers and rail enthusiasts the chance to experience the valley at one of its most atmospheric times of year.

With crisp hillsides, grand millstone grit buildings and the unmistakable silhouette of a steam locomotive cutting through the winter landscape, the journey blends seasonal charm with a sense of heritage that feels unmistakably Yorkshire.

Services feature the line’s restored heritage carriages, each with the warm, lived-in character that has made the railway a favourite with generations of visitors.

The atmosphere is deliberately unfussy: just the steady beat of the engine, the drift of steam past the window, and passengers settling in with their mince pies as the train climbs towards Oxenhope.

Twixmas also provides the perfect opportunity to explore the Worth Valley beyond the train.

Just a short stroll from Haworth Station, the town offers cobbled streets, independent shops and cosy cafés and has gained a reputation among younger visitors for its ‘Gilmore Girls energy’, with its bookshops, festive window displays and New England-style winter feel.

Combined with a steam-hauled trip, it makes for relaxed and uplifting winter day out.

With no need to book a complex itinerary or travel far, the Mince Pie Specials continue to be one of the region’s simplest and most enjoyable Christmas-to-New-Year traditions.
