OH YES IT IS – A SWASHBUCKLING PANTOMIME AT YORK THIS YEAR

Following a celebrated run of Old Granny Goose in Christmas 2022, York legend Berwick Kaler returns this year for another madcap panto Robinson Crusoe and The Pirates of The River Ouse.

Berwick will be joined on the Grand Opera House stage by his usual gang of David Leonard, Suzy Cooper, Martin Barrass and AJ Powell for a hilarious take on the classic story of the sailor from York who finds himself marooned on a desert island, but he’s not alone.

Berwick will write, direct and star in Robinson Crusoe as he brings this captivating tale of magic, mayhem and misunderstandings live to York’s famous stage.

Today Berwick, David, and AJ took to the water to test their sea legs ahead of rehearsals starting later this year. With the help of City Cruises, and calm waters, the gang launched this year’s brand-new title on the water of the River Ouse.

Of returning back to the Grand Opera House, Berwick says ‘we love performing here in this traditional theatre, it’s an absolute delight for us’

Laura McMillan, Theatre Director for the Grand Opera House York, says ‘we are delighted to welcome Berwick and the wider family back to the Grand Opera House this year for what will certainly be a swashbuckling family adventure. The Berwick panto is a York tradition, and we can’t wait to welcome audiences to the theatre’

Galleons of laughter are guaranteed in this sea-faring tale.
