If you want to kick off the Christmas Party season with a difference then head to the Flight Club.
Whether you want a competitive but light hearted competition with your friends and work colleagues, a cosy catch up or just to enjoy some downtime before the main event a game of social darts or electric shuffle is the perfect solution and lots of fun.
And this party season The Flight Club has created a specially curated limited edition menu and a bottomless brunch with a difference.
The two games couldn’t be different. Electric Shuffle has transformed shuffleboard, using technology to reimagine this classic game for modern times and houses it upstairs from the Flight Club in a strikingly decorated bar.
Flight Club has revolutionised the game of darts. It’s immersive fast-paced version of the classic game has been given a new twist to bring it into the 21st century with in-house state-of-the-art technology that tracks the position of every dart automatically keeping score and providing live action It combines the fun of the fairground – where darts had its origins with the warmth of the traditional pub.
So looking for some pre-Christmas cheer my colleague and I and I set off to enjoy the Christmas Party season at The Flight Club.
We opted for a game of social darts and I must confess I will never make it as a contestant on Bulls Eye only hitting the board after two games.
We opted to save tasting the new limited edition menu with a Christmassy twist on the classics and the new winter menu until after our game but did indulge in trying the seasonal tipples.
My colleague chose the Sleigh My Margarita – Casamigos Blanco tequila, pomegranate, blackberry liqueur, cinnamon, lime and a half salt rim for which there is also an alcohol free version. The drink was quite sweet but the salt counteracted the sweetness and you could certainly taste the tequila.
Later she tasted the Red Velvet Martini consisting of Ciroc Vodka, Chambord raspberry liqueur, Disaronno Velvet, grenadine and vanilla. This cocktail was thick in consistency and the taste was really something. It makes the perfect dessert cocktail and leave you wanting another one!
I went for the Mistletoe and Pear which came in a tall glass and was very refreshing. I could taste the Grey Goose Pear Vodka which blended beautifully with the St Germain Elderflower liqueur, apple and spiced berry cordial and was topped with Franklin & Sons ginger ale.
The Winter Hugo Spritz I found to be a very good pairing with the food. The Elderflower liqueur, Prosecco and the spiced berry cordial gave it a Christmas feeling. Served in a tall glass it was topped with soda. An alcohol free version of this cocktail is also available.
After our game we retired to a table in the bar area to try the snacks and a couple of dishes from the Winter menu.
From the snack menu the crispy brie, served in cubes, was just as it should be runny on the inside and crispy on the outside edge and the cranberry sauce was just the right consistency.
The pigs in blankets with a honey mustard were cooked to perfection and came piping hot to the table whilst the pork belly bites were something else -flavoursome with a delicious ginger and lime dressing that took away perfectly any fatty taste that can sometimes spoil the dish.
From the limited edition winter menu we chose Cheese and Garlic Pizza bread. It was a huge portion served on a paddle with sea salt and rosemary oil. Cooked wonderfully it was crispy at the edges with a smooth filling.
Our second dish was Coconut Popcorn Chicken. These were balls of chicken wrapped in a deliciously crispy batter and served with a sticky sweet chilli sauce. These were deliciously moreish!
The Flight Club’s food is certainly of a high standard. We both agreed that you don’t expect food of such a high standard in entertainment venues. And their food and service is certainly of a very high standard.
Through December the Flight Club in both the Darts and Electric Shuffle areas will host a two hour Festive Brunch Social on Saturday and Sunday afternoon with party tunes and resident DJ. There’s a cocktail on arrival plus a bottle of Prosecco for every guest, good bottomless pizza paddles and an hour on the shuffleboard or oche. Show up dressed in an outrageous Christmas jumper and there’s a chance to score some goodies. This runs on weekends throughout December whilst you can enjoy the winter menu any time until the first week in January.
