YELLOW IS COLOUR OF SUNSHINE

TOUR OF A CHILDREN'S PLAY

YELLOW IS COLOUR OF SUNSHINE

As part of its commitment to bringing distinctive and imaginative new writing to young children, Leeds theatre company tutti frutti has commissioned award-winning playwright Brendan Murray to collaborate on Yellow is the Colour of Sunshine. A vibrant new play for children aged 3 and above, the production uses spoken word, sign language, movement and stunning Japanese-inspired design to tell the charming story of two friends, Hani and Yoshi, performed by a cast of three.

Underneath an ever-changing multicoloured sky unfolds a delightful tale of a little boy and a little girl as they make friends, learn about feelings and work out – with a little help from some dancing magpies – how to communicate what’s in their hearts.

Yoshi and Hani are as different as chalk is to cheese: One big, one small. One noisy, one quiet. Side by side they play by the blue sea, run through the green fields and dance in the yellow sunshine.

But one day the sky turns grey and everything starts to change… Will the sun ever come out again?

The show is on tour to the following theatres in our region: – The Carriageworks Theatre (18 May) Seven Arts Chapel Allerton, Leeds (13 June)  and York Grand Opera House (17-22 June) See individual theatre websites for  performance times and box office numbers.
