Leeds’ Hyde Park Picture House is celebrating Valentine’s Day this year with a screening of Wim Wenders’ romantic fantasy Wings of Desire.
‘Our Valentine’s film is always a hard one to pick’ says Hyde Park’s General Manager Wendy Cook. ‘Film history is littered with great romantic tales. But Wings of Desire stands out in my mind as one of the greats. It was very loosely remade in ‘98 as the schmaltzy City of Angels starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan but this is the real deal; beautiful, original and achingly romantic.”
“It is a cinematic love letter to the city of Berlin, the earthly pleasures of a human existence and to the act of yearning in itself,” Wendy continues. “It’s a reminder of the wondrous thrill of true desire – for these reasons it is the Picture House’s Valentine’s special for 2013.’
Wings of Desire is screening on Valentine’s Day, Thursday the 14th of February at 8.30pm (doors open at 8pm.)
Tickets are on sale now priced from £4.50 to £6.50. Book by calling Box Office on 0113 275 2045 or online at www.hydeparkpicturehouse.co.uk
