THE TOTAL LOOK

Combining inspiration from Vidal’s iconic collaborations with the rising Parisian Ye-Ye fashion and jewellery designers of the ‘60s, TORQUE reinterprets the classic Space Age style and showcases beauty in simplicity to complete “The Total Look.”

THE ICONIC CUT

In 1963, Vidal finessed hair down to its absolute basics and went on to create the world’s most iconic haircuts including Nancy Kwan and the Asymmetric Geometric. The graphic lines inspire today’s TORQUE collection with the same purity, simplicity and utility in design.

“Good design always remains in demand,” says Gareth Vance, Senior Creative Director at Sassoon Salon Leeds. “TORQUE highlights the beauty in simplicity and showcases undercutting as this season’s tailoring technique.”

Top Tip
“To maximise a polished, glossy finish ensure you blow-dry the hair in a downward direction and wrap the hair around the head shape to create a sleek, high-gloss shine,” says Gareth.

EFFORTLESSLY DISHEVELLED
On his recent visit to Leeds, Edward Darley, Sassoon UK Colour Director told me about  the new colour techniques which take their  cues from the iconic jewellery house of Cartier as Sassoon translates intricate colour through an incredibly fine “slicing” technique. “We use colour to complement the shape of the haircut and create different dimensions within one look,” says
Edward “Our colours have a natural looking, fiber-optic iridescence that give vibrancy and shine to a haircut.”

Top Tip
“What’s wrong, is actually really right at the moment and this look is really easy to achieve,” says Gareth. “Add a small amount of Sassoon Professional Texture Refine evenly through your hair and mould into the desired shape”.

THE INSTANT UPDATE
The TORQUE collection showcases the NEW Prestige Colour Service ‘Fusion Highlights’. “The skilful blend of iridescent colours and innovative colour placement creates a customised highlight effect designed to fit your haircut, brighten your style and reveal your unique identity,” says Edward.

Top Tip
Sweeping side fringes were seen in SS16 shows such as Fendi and Markus Lupfer. “This look works best on hair with very gentle natural movement and adds drama to the classic bob.” says Gareth.
