THE CIVIC BARNSLEY INTRODUCES ALLOCATED SEATING AND NEW WEBSITE

You asked, The Civic listened

Following audience feedback, The Civic has introduced allocated seating and launched new website alongside the recent release of their new Autumn/Winter 2015 brochure.

The Civic’s new season brochure lists an abundance of events and exhibitions at the venue from September 2015 to January 2016. Chief Executive, Helen Ball surmises their upcoming Autumn/Winter programme:

“Our new season is packed full of wonderful shows and exhibitions. We are welcoming back a number of favourites including Phoenix Dance Theatre and Jenny Éclair as well as the usual brilliant mix of brand-new work for you to try, such as our New Work Weekend in September. On the run up to Christmas there are some fantastic family shows and a very special festive Cabaret Boom Boom just for the grown-ups! We are very grateful to all our audiences and partners who continue to support us and we look forward to seeing them again very soon.”

Also acting on customer comments, award winning on-site Oak Star Café and Bistro have amended their pre-theatre dining offer. Oak Star owner Gregor Staric comments:

“We now offer all theatre goers 15% off their total bill including their drinks, when they present their ticket on the day of the show. This replaces our pre-theatre dining set menu and now means that customers can select any meal from our evening menu”

Front of House Manager Luke Robson advocates “Audience feedback is very important to us and many patrons have told us through our surveys and comments cards that allocated seating would be an improvement to their enjoyment of the venue.”

Following The Civic’s successful bid for the Arts Council Capital Development Fund in July 2014, they were able to finance new seating block for their Assembly Room and a new website. For the first time in The Civic’s short six year history, audience members are now able to choose their own seats for most shows.

Luke continues, “Not only have we increased our maximum capacity by almost 50 seats [336 standard capacity/384 maximum capacity], audiences can now select in advance where they want to sit and don’t have to queue early for the best seats. Additionally, our brand new website will ensure a better experience for our audience from booking their tickets online to walking through our doors to see one of our shows or exhibitions.”

The Civic’s website has also benefited from a much needed redevelopment. The new website went live in June and has garnered positive feedback from both audiences and visiting artists, “I’m so pleased you’ve revamped your website – the new one’s really good! Congrats!” Michael Gray (Bob Dylan & the History of Rock n Roll on 12 September).
