HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY TO THE ICONIC CLEANSER
Continuing our series of the stories behind our favourite brands – we spotlight Liz Earle whose very first product Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser celebrates its 25th birthday this year.
The story of Liz Earle Beauty Co., started back in 1995 when co-founders Liz Earle and Kim Buckland had a realisation that skincare was created as a ‘one size fits all’ approach, frustrated with a lack of options they united to bring consumers a beauty brand that would suit all their different skin types. Liz and Kim are no longer part of Liz Earle Beauty Co., but the brand continues to uphold the principles they set out from day one.
One of the very first products created was the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, which now holds over 130 awards and celebrates its 25th birthday this year. This was on the first two-phase cleansers of its kind at launch and was unlike anything the industry had seen before with its luxuriously gentle formula and cleansing cloth
So what makes Liz Earle’s products so different and what is the philosophy behind the recipes?
“High performance, quality and safe ingredients are our priority. We know where our ingredients come from and we’re committed to building relationships with our growers and farmers – not only to ensure the quality of our precious ingredients, but also to monitor our impact on the environment, the community and fair working conditions”, says James Wong Ethnobotanist at Liz Earle
According to Sarah Carr the Liz Earle Lifestyle Ambassador and Facialist Skin is the body’s largest organ and is often the hardest to read. “The key to becoming your own skin expert is taking the time to really get to know yours. Understanding that its needs are always changing (daily, weekly, monthly and seasonally), and that a range of factors can influence it (hormones, stress, diet and lifestyle) can
Sarah recommends sticking to a regular cleanse, tone, moisturise routine – both in the morning and evening – and exfoliating twice a week.
“This makes it much easier to add in specialist treatments like masks, serums and boosters to target the areas that need a little bit more TLC. My personal recommendation? I love to start every routine with the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (the limited edition scent of grapefruit and patchouli is a great uplifting fragrance) then I move onto the Liz Earle Botanical Drops! They can be mixed into your choice of Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser or applied directly to problem areas to help brighten, balance or calm the skin – letting you personalise your routine as and when your skin needs a little more support.”
