THE STRIDE OF PRIDE RETURNS WITH THE RAINBOW CROSSING FOR LEEDS PRIDE 2018
Victoria Leeds is proud to join in with the city’s Pride celebrations
Victoria Leeds is excited to announce the return of the Pride rainbow flag crossing installation between Victoria Quarter and Victoria Gate on Vicar Lane in support of the city’s Pride festivities though the city this weekend.
Last year, Leeds Pride saw over 30,000 people dance, skip, stride and meander across Victoria Leeds’ rainbow road, with hundreds of photographs shared across social media, so fans will be pleased to see it back for the second time.
This year however, the celebrations at Victoria Leeds will be bigger and better, with a vibrant, detailed mural on Sidney Street celebrating the city and its diverse community, as well as the rich history of the Pride parade. The mural has been designed by the world-famous and extremely talented graffiti artist, SER, for Victoria Leeds, and members of the public will be encouraged to contribute to this gorgeous tapestry of history themselves, colouring in the mural using a rainbow selection of chalk pens.
Installed in collaboration with Leeds City Council, the rainbow and mural will only be in situ for the Pride weekend, dazzling shoppers and Pride attendees alike. So it’s not one to be missed!
General Manager at Victoria Leeds, Jo Coburn, commented: “Pride is an incredible event for our city every year, and as the key retail destination in Leeds, we are proud to be involved in the city-wide celebrations once again. We hope our bold, bright and beautiful handiwork shows our support to the LGBT+ community and everyone enjoying Pride this weekend.”
Leeds Pride is taking place throughout the weekend of 4th and 5th August 2018, as Yorkshire’s biggest celebration of LGBT+ community. The main event will take place on Sunday 5th August with entertainment across the city and the famous parade passing over the rainbow crossing on Vicar Lane.
