The 50’s saw the return to glamour fashion, following the harsh conditions of the war years
The New Look created by Christian epitomised the 50’s look with nipped in waists, fully pleated skirts with belts and the 50’s silhouette.
Today the 1950’s have been revitalised on the high street today with fully pleated skirts and nipped in waists being a key trend for Marks and Spencers Autumn Winter Collection
In celebration of this remarkable decade, M&S is calling on locals to step back in time and celebrate the sounds, sights, fashions and innovations at the M&S Company Archive in Leeds on Saturday 17th August.
The free event will charge the retailers role in bringing high fashion to the high street.
There will be unseen 50’s products on display and the chance to watch period adverts complete with popcorn and picnic style refreshments.
Guests can also take part in Rock’n’Roll dance classes with Swing Dance, Leeds and for those who come in their own 50’s inspired fashion, they’ll have the chance to win a ‘best dressed prize’ and £50 gift card.
The Archive is open between 10.00am and 5pm on Saturdays and the 50’s event will run from 11.am to 3pm.
