The Johnny Eck and Dave Toole Show
Dave Toole is a dancer, choreographer and performer from Leeds. In 2012 he was the man who flew high above the Paralympic Opening Ceremony however that is the least of what he has done.
Johnny Eck was an American freak show performer born without the lower half of his torso. Eck is best known today for his role in Tod Browning’s 1932 cult classic film, Freaks.
This is a show about both of them, and it is also about Leeds. Performed in the Tiltyard, the outdoor arena of the Royal Armouries Museum.
Each member of the audience will be given one of Slung Low’s headphone receivers meaning you’ll hear the performers intimately no matter where they might be.

Kings of Cloth of Gold
Tuesday 30 April
By Tony Lidington
Directed by Em Whitfield Brooks
Designed by Ruth Paton
With Emanuel Brierley as King Francis I and Dominic Goodwin as King Henry VIII
Angus and Ross Theatre Company return to the Royal Armouries in Leeds for the finale of their UK tour.
The year is 1520. In this brand new family comedy, Henry VIII of England meets Francis I of France at the most magnificent tournament ever held: the ‘Field of Cloth of Gold’. (So many pavilions were made of costly gold cloth that it became the byword for extravagance).
The two kings compete to outdo each other in displays of wealth, wit, feasting and sporting prowess. Each king is proud, intelligent, and the epitome of chivalry. But who will eventually win this battle of vanity?
This sparkling new physical comedy by Tony Lidington (Joey – King of Clowns, Dan Leno – The King’s Jester) reunites two actors whose dexterity and onstage chemistry have gained standing ovations across the national touring circuit.
Costumes, props and set design will be Inspired by… the Royal Armouries’ collection.
