BRUSH UP YOUR SINGING WITH OPERA NORTH
Adult singers of all ages and abilities are invited to ‘Brush Up their Shakespeare’ at the end of May with Opera North’s fun and friendly workshop, Come and Sing Kiss Me, Kate.
Kiss Me, Kate, Cole Porter’s witty take on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, features some of the greatest show songs ever written including ‘Another Op’nin’, Another Show’ and ‘Wunderbar’. To coincide with the return of the Broadway classic to Leeds Grand Theatre, Come and Sing Kiss Me, Kate gives people in the city the chance to learn some toe-tapping songs from the musical before performing them alongside the Chorus of Opera North.
The workshop is being held from 11am to 3pm on Friday 25 May in the Howard Assembly Room. During the morning session, Matt Roughley, Opera North Education’s Vocal Delivery Artist, will help everyone to master a selection of Cole Porter’s catchiest tunes before being joined in the afternoon by Oliver Rundell, Opera North’s Chorus Master, together with the full Chorus of Opera North and a couple of very special guests.
The workshop costs £15 per person. Booking is already open online at www.operanorth.co.uk or at the Box Office on 0844 848 2720.
