COULD YOU BE THE NEXT YOUNG INVENTOR OF THE YEAR?
Made in Yorkshire is a passionate advocate of anything that encourages young people to pursue careers in engineering and manufacturing.
One of the most important of these is the Young Inventor project, which the organisation has launched in collaboration with colleges across the region, and which this year is sponsored by recruitment specialist Michael Page.
The award celebrates the creative flair of the next generation of manufacturers and engineers and presents the opportunity for colleges across Yorkshire to showcase their abilities and build relationships with local companies.
The competition allows the students to demonstrate competence in the use of various manufacturing processes such as robotics and other new technologies.
Young Inventor, sponsored by Michael Page, is ultimately intended to showcase innovative excellence among the network of colleges across the region and is a flagship project highlighting how important it is to nurture up and coming talent.
The project also plays an important role in overturning negative stereotypes of the manufacturing industry, especially amongst those who believe it is not a viable career.
A finalist from each college will then go forward to the MIY Awards event in October, where the overall ‘Young Inventor of the Year’ will be announced and presented with an award. Every student who participates and presents will receive a Certificate of Commendation.
