LUSH’S NEW BACK TO NATURE FACIAL

LUSH’S NEW BACK TO NATURE FACIAL

It’s Leeds best kept beauty therapy secret and has been for some time – The Lush Spa

Nestling beneath the Lush boutique is a heaven on earth haven that is an oasis of calm in the city with immerseive spa experiences designed to transform revive.

Here you can be pampered by Lush’s fresh handmade products, combined with a soothing touch, exclusive music, and a hint of surprise that treats both body and mind and leaves you feeling so good.

Descend the stairs in the Lush boutique in commercial street and it’s a new world. It’s homely, calming and beautiful with a wonderful natural ambience that makes it so special. Most beauty spas and salons have a rather clinical feel but not Lush Spa its just so naturally relaxing.

There’s a whole range of treatments on offer but I was at the spa to try the new Rewilding  Facial lifting facial spa treatment, with ingredients that help rewild habitats across the globe and fresh formulas that provide nourishment to the skin.

This 50-minute lifting facial utilises hot and cold therapy, facial massage and lymphatic techniques to make skin look sculpted and rejuvenated, all to the tune of a bespoke soundtrack of historic nature folk songs centuries old that constitute historical artefacts  passed down through generations about nature and odes to trees.

Much like the forests and seas of planet earth, the microbiome is the skin’s own ecosystem and an essential part of the skin barrier. This new facial has been created by Lush’s in-house spa development team to achieve maximum results with minimal interference.

Lots of Lush Spa guests had been asking for a lifting facial using Lush’s lovely products so this was their answer.

It can be a maintenance treatment or a luxurious treatment, and its going to help maintain muscle integrity, tension relief and lymph drainage.

My treatment began with a double cleanse with Lush’s signature cleanser Ultrabland or for Vegans Ultraplant is used. The cleanser was massaged into my skin and removed with warming mitts.

Next a foaming cleanser in the form of Drop of Hope soap was used using facial brushes. This was particularly pleasant and the soap contains moisturising rapeseed oil from Fukushima, which provides a vital source of income for people who lost their livelihoods in the nuclear disaster.

The plant has the unique ability to soak up irradiated caesium from the soil. However, when you extract oil from the seeds, the caesium stays in the plant, so is completely safe to use while also cleaning the soil and regenerating the land.

Next followed Lush’s firming and brightening Ayesha face mask, featuring asparagus and dark patchouli oil, is then applied. Lush purchases this beautiful oil in collaboration with the Orangutan Information Centrein a way that doesn’t further damage the forests of Sumatra, Indonesia – and in fact aids its regeneration through the use of permaculture practices.

While the face mask was replenishing my skin, the  tension was worked out of my neck and head using firm-pressure massage, knuckling and long strokes into the shoulders. This was wonderful as spending a long time at my computer and having a busy lifestyle means I always have neck and head tension. The relief that followed was amazing.

My favourite facial serum Full of Grace was then applied and worked into the face.  I love this particular product as with my travel writers hat on its so easy to transport  when I am on assignments and has a wonderful effect on the skin.

This light serum is made with illipe butter and portobello mushroom, rich in vitamins B and C, and believed to have antioxidant properties. The serum  was worked into myface and neck, focusing on sculpting work around the cheekbones, jaw and up to the forehead, stretches and light pinching, flicking, tapping and stroking to stimulate a healthy glow.

To bring me out of this deep state of relaxation uplifting cold therapy using a witchhazel and peppermint jelly face mask soothes the skin was then applied.

Finally Gorgeous moisturiser (or a tailored alternative) is applied for a healthy glow, imbued with the finest cold-pressed and organic oils (originally formulated for Princess Diana!) and fresh fruit juices to deeply rejuvenate the skin.

As I sat and relaxed in the rustic environment of the Spa with a raspberry soda drink full of health giving goodies – I felt relaxed and my skin felt like me rejuvenated.

With Valentines Day just around the corner and Mothers Day not far behind this treatment makes the perfect gift. It’s also great to combat the winter blues and catapult you into Spring.
