Hundreds of animals to take over Royal Hall at The Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate

Crochet (and animal!) fans are in for a treat at The Knitting & Stitching Show in November as hundreds of amigurumi crochet animals take over Harrogate Convention Centre’s iconic Royal Hall.

From Alexandre the Russian Blue Cat to Zack the Skunk, the entire TOFT Edward’s Menagerie collection of 300 soft crochet animals will be on display for all to see in the Convention Centre’s stunning Edwardian theatre.  The cuddly collection was designed by TOFT founder and yarn enthusiast Kerry Lord who picked up a crochet hook for the first time just a fortnight before her baby son Edward was born.

Each animal is made using simple crochet techniques set out in TOFT’s Edward’s Menagerie books and pattern kits, with downloadable step-by-step instructions and video links that anyone can pick up quickly, from complete beginners to advanced crocheters.  Each animal has a universal pattern which, with a change of hook or yarn, can create different sizes and possibilities.  No special equipment is required and each animal pattern uses 75-125g of DK yarn.

TOFT will also be hosting a Hangout Area where show visitors can learn to crochet an autumn leaf for a beautiful woodland display that will grow over the show’s four days.  Visitors can also meet guest artists for book signings and hook up with like-minded crafters and Instagram friends.

The Knitting & Stitching Show takes place at Harrogate Convention Centre from 22nd-25th November 2018 and features over 190 workshops from top textile teachers, 20 Textile Galleries from leading contemporary textile artists, groups and graduates, artists at work in a live studio environment, drop-in knitting and crochet lessons and over 200 exhibitors selling fabric, equipment and other specialist supplies.
