Leeds City Centre has an amazing selection of different types of eateries but if you are looking for an establishment that’s fun, funky and has fabulous food then MEATliquor in Trinity is for you.

MEATliquor has always been a fascinating place in every way and recently its undergone some impressive refurbishment – but thankfully nothing that has spoiled its vintage ambience.

Walk into this establishment and its like entering an underground 70’s American Retro Diner.

There’s booths down one side with curtains for those who like a private atmosphere, normal table seating and two large half moon table seating areas which can also be curtained off for private parties.

MEATliquor is like no other dinner in the city. There’s a pool table, Arcade games and both indoor and outdoor seating and its dog friendly.

Vintage posters adorn the walls and the bar is festooned with incredible lighting without losing any of the American dinner atmosphere.  Here you can have drinks from craft beer to cocktails – and I must say how incredible their cocktails menu and cocktails are.

For a short season they have had a partnership with Monkey Shoulder, and if you are quick its still on, whose cocktails joined their menu.

My partner opted for the Grog 2.1 This consisted of A blend of El Dorado Rums, Skippers Rum, Monkey Shoulder Fresh, dosed with Ovenproof Rum and mixed with their Clarified Tropical Grog Mix. This he said was very refreshing and you could really taste the mix of rums.

I chose the Fresh Daiquiri with Fresh Monkey Shoulder, Citrus and Sugar. It was served in a half pint vintage glass with a handle. The cocktail was smooth and not too sugary which was great.

For starters we chose from the Monkey Specials. I ordered the Impossible Chicken Nuggets (Vegan). They were served with a Smokey Monkey Whisky infused barbecue sauce whilst my partner feasted on a portion of Smokey Monkey Fingers. These were chicken breast strips dredged in a MEATliquor seasoning and tossed in a Smokey Monkey Shoulder Whiskey Infused BBQ Sauce

I found my vegan choice very tasty – I had all on to believe they really were vegan – whilst the chicken on my partners choice was tender and succulent.

The dishes came served with a large portion of onion rings which were steaming hot (as they should be) and the batter crisp and tasty.

A perfect choice for a main course at MEATliquor are Burgers and all the burgers can be served Rabbit Style without a bun and wrapped in lettuce which we both opted for

My partners Dead Hippie consisted of two French-Mustard fried double patties with an exclusive Dead Hippie Sauce, American Cheese, pickles and diced White Onion.  A fabulous combination my mustard loving partner declared whilst munching his way through this veritable treat.

I opted for a Cheeseburger with a succulent double patty with the same accompaniments as my partner had but I did order a side of Fried Pickles with a blue cheese sauce – these are a must to try if you have never had them before. Its a great way to eat your greens!

The establishment has a limited sweet choice. My partner chose the Jägermeister Ripple Ice Cream. It was rich and creamy with pure unadulterated Jägermeister ripples through it. It comes served in a traditional paper tub reminiscent of the 60’s movie theatres.

I fancied the Pump up the Jam Ice Cream Sandwich but unfortunately dinners during what had been a busy day had totally cleaned out supplies. I was disappointed but our server made me a special ice-cream treat – now how many staff would do that? It looked fantastic and tasted it with sprinkles, sauce and all sorts of childhood treats.

MEATliquor can be anything you want it to be and its also great for kids with a Small Fries Menu and has a brilliant choice of Shakes and Ice Cream Floats yet at the same time its cocktail menu is bound to please the adults along with a selection of craft beers.

Staff at this establishment are so knowledgeable about their product and help whether they can. They are so cheerful  really do make you feel at home and truly spoiled.
