Gregory Projects Ltd has announced that it has agreed terms for affordable fitness chain, Pure Gym to open a new 17,000 sq. ft. facility at its development site on Tower Street in Harrogate town centre. The deal comes just weeks after Gregory Projects successfully secured planning and conservation approvals to redevelop the dilapidated site that was formerly a bowling alley.
North Yorkshire established Pure Gym is currently the fastest growing gym chain in the UK with a concept that removes the top three barriers to membership…inflexible contracts, limited opening hours and high costs. ‘Price for life’, 24 hour opening, no contract and access to high-quality equipment have allowed the chain to rapidly expand with 42 gyms.
Leeds based Gregory Projects has already secured a deal with Travelodge to operate a 70 bedroom hotel and restaurant prior to planning approval meaning that the scheme is now fully let with redevelopment works due to commence this June.
Richard Tovey of Gregory Projects, said, “The fact that we have attracted two prime operators in such a short space of time clearly demonstrates the need for such facilities in Harrogate town centre. There is no other low cost gym operating in the area and Travelodge is expanding its bed space based on demand. Our scheme is a successful example of how a disused and redundant site can be transformed to deliver much needed facilities to the local public.”
Angela Crawshaw, Property Director at Pure Gym commented, “Pure gym is delighted to be working with Gregory Properties again and excited to be bringing low cost fitness to Harrogate. This is a great opportunity to prove to people that access to a high quality gym with 24/7 access doesn’t have to cost a fortune!”
