Emmerdale stars Dominic Brunt and Mark Charnock are bringing the walking dead back to Headingley once again as the sixth Leeds Zombie Film Festival returns to the Cottage Road Cinema, on Sunday 21st April. Around 500 zombie film fans will join the pair, who play Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle in the popular ITV soap, to watch six blood-thirsty films over 12 hours in order to raise money for the World Society for Protection of Animals (WSPA).
The six films chosen for this year’s festival are a mix of modern and classic movies as usual but one in particular is very close to Dominic’s heart as he starred and directed in it! Before Dawn will be aired at the Leeds Zombie Film Festival much to the delight of regular supporters, some of who were also involved in the making of the film that has received rave reviews at screenings and film festivals in the UK and Europe.
Dominic said: “Mark and I have been spending our time arguing and fighting over the line up and it’s a strong year mixing foreign, classic and brand new. Every single film is a crowd pleaser. Also, I cannot wait to show Before Dawn to its own rightful crowd as we couldn’t show it last year.”
As well as Before Dawn, which will be followed by a Q&A with Dominic, the line up includes the 1994 cult classic Cemetery Man starring Rupert Everett, Cuban zombie flick Juan of the Dead and the Dario Argento cut of the popular Dawn of the Dead. The festival will also show Harold’s Going Stiff, introduced by director Keith Wright, and Cockneys Vs Zombies, introduced by director Mattias Hoene. Both directors will also follow each screening with a Q&A session.
Film fans are invited to get into the Zombie spirit if they wish as some guests turn up in all their undead finery, complete with pale faces, artificial blood and limbs. They said when there’s no room left in hell, the dead will walk in Leeds again – and this weekend, they might be right!
Tickets cost just £15 and the event is strictly over 18s only. Tickets can be reserved in advance by calling the hotline on 0113 275 1606 or emailing email@example.com. Tickets can also be brought from the box office on the day subject to availability.
