If you love Italian food then you are sure to fall instantly for the food at Prezzo.

But its not only the food, it’s the whole ambience with the black and white décor, marble floors and light and very cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Situated in The Light, you can even enjoy food outside the restaurant, under cover of course, and watch the world go by.

Prezzo is the kind of place that suits any occasion from a girlie, ladies-who-lunch or business mid-day meal to a gathering of friends, family or even a romantic dinner for two!

The restaurant has a good choice of apertivo and cocktails. I opted for the Gordon’s Pink Gin Spritz, it came in an overized glass but was a little too sweet for me because of the lemonade and raspberries. My partner chose his favourite beer Peroni and was delighted that it was available on draught.

I hadn’t to be asked twice which starter I wanted. The giant meatballs with pomodora sauce took my eye. A more than generous portion arrived and the word giant was not an exaggeration of their size. The meat was smooth textured and tender and the sauce was thick and not too spicy which was perfect for my taste.

My partner opted for the stuffed garlic and mozzarella mushrooms. They came piping hot and he could really taste the mozzarella and the light garlic mayonnaise was ideal the ideal companion for them giving them a real kick.

Having lived in Italy, my partner is always critical of pizzas, so if one pleases him, as this one did, then it must be good. He chose the Vesuvio which had double pepperoni and red chillies. He described it as moderately spicy but not overly spicy. There was more than an average portion of pepperoni on the pizza and the base was perfection as pizza bases, he always says, can sometimes be very mundane.

I went for a pasta dish and was not disappointed. My goat’s cheese and vegetable penn in a pomodoro and basil pesta sauce was very tasty and a great vegetarian choice only one complaint the portion was just too large.

Even after a reasonable break we just couldn’t face a dessert, tempting though they were, as we were just so full so opted for a digestivo.

For me it was an expresso martini and one of the very best I have had for a long time. It had a really strong coffee taste but at the same time this did not drown the taste of the coffee liqueur and the vodka gave it a real kick.

My partner chose the traditional iconic Italian lemon liqueur – Limoncello and was delighted that Prezzo is one of the few restaurants who serve it just at the right temperature.

Prezzo certainly has a Neopolitan atmosphere and is constantly changing its menu making it one of the best Italian restaurants in town.

Prezzo is open from 11.30 am to 11.00pm from Monday to Saturday and from to 9.30pm on Sundays
