Preview You're 'Avin' a Giraffe

Get yourself down to The Adelphi for a night of stand-up

Preview: You're 'Avin' a Giraffe

This summer, the Adelphi will be blessed with the comic talents of Mike Newall, Chris Stokes and Graham Goring as they make one final stop before performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Goring, winner of Best Show at the Manchester Comedy Festival 2009, and Leicester Mercury nominee Chris Stokes present a hilarious double act of all things geeky. ‘Nerds of a Feather’ covers everything from videogames and zombie movies to sci-fi – and is unashamedly nerdy yet universally funny. The hour-long show is audio-visually enhanced and features a fast-paced stream of gags about an emotionally stunted man-child.

Once you’ve recovered from the first show, prepare for more side-splitting laughter from Newall in his show ‘Mr Famous’. His friends think he has a ‘glamorous’ career as a stand-up comedian and his debut at the Edinburgh show provides an insight into his life: the sex, the drugs, the rock’n’roll… though sadly, it’s more like the car journeys, the B&Bs and the bacon rolls. Newall’s hilarious show takes the audience on a journey of highs, lows, ambitions and tales of the people in his life.

MC Danny McLoughlin returns to lead the proceedings and presents his final gig before he heads north to headline the prestigious ‘Big Value Comedy Show’. Make sure you catch him here first.

2nd August, You’re ‘Avin’ a Giraffe Comedy Club @ The Adelphi, 1-5 Hunslet Road, Leeds, LS10 1JQ, 0113 245 6377, £4.50 advance, £5.50 on the door, 8pm.
