The Marvellous Tea Dance Company, purveyors of fanciful cake confections and regulars of vintage fashion events, are holding their very own Summer Fete on Saturday 29th May at The Faversham.
With summer now (nearly) here, what better way to celebrate than a cup of tea and a slice of Victoria sponge? Or you can bake your own with the competitive cupcake competition on the day. The fete will feature craft stalls and a flower arranging contest, vintage tunes from DJ Honeydripper, egg and spoon races and, in true English style, men in white hitting sticks together with bells on their trousers.
Since their conception in 2005, fashion graduates Angie Coburn and Donna Templeman have been fulfilling Leeds’ cake based needs at events around the city. Before the fete, their delicious fare will also be available at The Affordable Vintage Fashion Fair (16th May) at the Leeds University student’s union, and While Stocks Last (22nd May), a clothing market at The Faversham. The busy ladies have no intention of slowing down, with 2010 seeing their first foray into orders and wholesale, a new website, and continuing with catering and workshops both in and out of Leeds.
29 May, The Faversham, 1-5 Springfield Mount, LS2 9NG, 0113 243 1481, www.themarvellousteadancecompany.co.uk, or search for ‘The Marvellous Tea Dance Company’ on Facebook. From 2pm, £5-£7
