The UK’s premier short film festival – Short & Sweet – makes its Leeds debut with a night of film and music at Nation of Shopkeepers on 26th May.
Having established itself as a weekly event in London Short & Sweet is looking to expand northwards. Founded in 2006, the festival has strived to act as a showcase for an array of both established and up-and-coming international talent.
As well as the scheduled series of short features to be shown at the Nation of Shopkeepers event there will also be a DJ set by Bill Ryder Jones. Formerly lead guitarist for early Noughties indie crooners The Coral, Jones is now attempting to branch out into creating movie music and has recently completed his first score for the Liverpool produced Leave Talking.
The event, which is free to attend, is set to kick off with the first screening due at 7.30.
Short & Sweet has gained a reputation as an innovative event and has announced its intentions to screen an entirely 3D film festival in Shoreditch later this year. Previously Short & Sweet has acted as the host for screenings of the annual Orange BAFTA short film and short animation nominees.
