Get to grips with your camera through a series of weekly workshops held at Harewood House, from Sunday 5th September to Sunday 7th November 2010 between 10.30am-4.30pm. The workshops have been structured into themes, enabling you to explore your artistic potential and yield the best results from your snaps.
The course will be led by professional photographer Steve Rayner who, with over 30 years experience, is a successful lecturer and workshop leader. Rayner’s interest and experience with digital photography stretches back to the late 1980s. He also possesses a hands-on approach to teaching which ensures that you are actively practising new techniques, and not being bogged under by theory.
The first workshop is dedicated to getting to know your camera. Often, if you aren’t producing the image you aspire to achieve, this can be corrected thanks to a competent understanding of your camera’s buttons and menus. A day of experimentation and practice may be all that you need to become a camera whiz and, if you fear you may forget what you have learned, you will also be presented with a useful guide for future reference.
Further workshops pay attention to landscape, portrait and creative photography, respectively. Here you will learn to control light, composition and colour, and improve your camera confidence with a view to testing out your own innovative ideas. The buildings and grounds of Harewood will provide the perfect studio to get your creative juices flowing.
Even if you’ve got a relatively simple camera, familiarising yourself with new concepts and camera controls can inspire you to go out and produce some fantastic photographs so don’t feel compelled to arrive armed with the most expensive model. The full course carries a charge of £300 but you can participate in individual workshops for £85. This is a course for anyone and everyone so book yourself in and get snap happy.
