After taking a detour from his road to nowhere, comedian Paddy McGuinness will be heading for Leeds, Halifax and Wakefield later this year.
The Bolton funnyman is taking to the stage on 7th December at Leeds Grand Theatre and before that on 1st October at Halifax Theatre Victoria and 2nd October at Theatre Royal Wakefield as part of his Paddy McGuinness Plus You tour.
Paddy shot to fame as the doorman Patrick ‘Paddy’ O’Shea in ‘Phoenix Nights’ and later went on to film a season of ‘Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere’ with comic legend and best mate Peter Kay.
“I don’t bother with all that clever, chin-scratching comedy,” said the 34-year-old. “I want people who have been working all week to come and watch a show, have a laugh and not have to think about it too much.
“I’ve been to Wakefield about four times before and the crowd are always a good audience, which is why I always come back. Leeds is great too, so it’s going to be fun.”
Paddy got his first break through pal Peter on ‘Phoenix Nights’ - when he split his time working on shoots and supervising the pool at his local leisure centre.
He said: “Right from school, I’ve always had two or three jobs on the go. It was a bit mad - one minute people would be making brews for me and the next I was making them for others.”
Some might say Paddy’s been living in the shadow of Peter Kay, but that’s not something he puts any stock in. He added: “We are best mates and help each other out with stuff, it’s great.”
