Preview North Bar's American Beer Festival
Push aside your preconceptions about American beer, this will be good
Preview: North Bar's American Beer Festival
Unfortunately, when most people think of American beer, they think of Budweiser and Miller – beers that can hardly be branded exciting, or innovative.
Thank god then for North Bar in Leeds, who will be celebrating the growing Craft Beer movement ion the US by bringing challenging, hoppy, interesting and some probably quite odd beers across the Atlantic
The Craft Beer movement celebrates passion and quality over shifting units and making beers with as broad an appeal as possible. With North Bar being one of Leeds’ main celebrants of quality ales, lagers, stouts, porters and more, it seem natural for them to give US beer a push with their American Beer Festival. Indeed, the bar was the first place in the UK to sell Brooklyn Lager and Sierra Nevada pale ale on draught.
Following on from their successful event last year this year’s festival will be jam-packed with a great range of beers.
Matt Gorecki, the manager of North bar and Further North, says: “We’re expanding our selection again this year and hope to get more draught products as well as loads of new bottled stuff. Alongside favourites from Brooklyn, Sierra Nevada, Goose Island and Anchor we will have brews from Great Divide, Flying Dog, Odell, Stone, Left Hand, Tommyknocker, Green Flash, Uncommon, Moylens, Butternuts, Rogue, Arkadia and Oskar Blues.”
Phew, so there’s plenty to try there, and there’ll be hotdogs and chilidogs to line your stomach with too!
At North Bar 29 July – 5 August, then at Further North from 6 August
