Preview Mitch Benn at Calderdale Comedy Club

Head to Sowerby Bridge for a night of live stand-up on 31 July

Preview: Mitch Benn at Calderdale Comedy Club

The Calderdale Comedy Club is making sure July goes out with a bang (and a lot of laughs) this year as it hosts a selection of highly sought-after comedy acts at The Works in Sowerby Bridge. Saturday 31st July’s stellar line-up consists of BBC Radio star Mitch Benn, half Canadian, half Trinidadian surrealist Tony Law, seasoned comedian Parrot and MC Rob Riley.

Benn, who currently enjoys headliner status at many comedy events, began his stand-up career 16 years ago in Edinburgh and is a regular favourite at the Glastonbury Festival every year, thanks in no small part to his talent for writing and performing comedy songs. His act has developed into a favourite among university students in particular but has proven a hit with all audiences. Benn regularly performs at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival and has toured across the globe with his highly sought-after act. You may already know Benn from BBC Radio 2’s ‘It’s Been a Bad Week’ or Radio 4’s ‘The Now Show’, for which he regularly writes and performs, but here’s your chance to catch him live. He also presents Radio 4’s ‘Mitch Benn’s Crimes Against Music’ and ‘The Mitch Benn Music Show’ on Radio 7.

Tony Law will add his own unique brand of comedy to the line-up through intelligent, spontaneous humour. Law is hailed as a stand-up off-beat genius – his fans include Sean Lock, Adam Buxton and Stewart Lee. Law has appeared at some of Britain’s biggest comedy clubs, including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs and, like Benn, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Senior stand-up act Parrot and MC Rob Riley will also be doing their level best to make this a memorable night of side-splitting humour and brilliant comedy.
