Fashionistas feeling bereft of excitement now that the likes of New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks are over will be pleased to learn that Leeds’ very own fashion show will return in November.

The fourth Leeds Fashion Show will be held at glamorous city centre venue The Loft and will showcase the best of local established and emerging talent, as well as raising funds for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

“The aim of this event is to attract attention to the creative talent we have in the North of England,” says Rhonda Richards, PR for the event which has in the past featured names such as Kelly Ewing, Blonde & Wise, Orlando Fashions and Anna Ewing.

“We feel these talents should be recognised,” says Ms Richards who hopes the event will also open up opportunities for local businesses and the region’s textile industry.
“The ultimate aim would be to create Leeds Fashion Week.”

The designers featured in this year’s show were chosen through a rigorous process of online and postal applications and had to supply samples before eventually being selected by the show’s panel.

Their designs on the theme ‘Dress Me Beautiful’ will head down the runway in front of leading figures from Yorkshire’s fashion world alongside commentary by the show’s presenter – local girl and fashion fan JoJo from Galaxy FM.

The show promises to be an entirely local affair with models selected from around Yorkshire to show off the very latest trends on the Loft catwalk. Hair on the night will be styled by Leeds’ own Piranha Hair and third year students from Leeds City College will be in charge of providing the show stopping make-up.

The Leeds Fashion Show was originally organised as a one-off event to celebrate founder Anjula Davidson’s daughter graduating university and the memory of her other daughter Alliyah who tragically passed away 13 years ago.

Following the success of the first show, Anjula was inundated with requests from local designers and figures from the city’s business world and decided to organize the event every year in order to celebrate Leeds’ growing presence in the fashion industry.

“This is our fourth year and it promises to be bigger and better than ever,” says Anjula. “We will have some fantastic prizes to auction and raffle, and all proceeds raised will go towards the charity we are supporting this year, which is the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.”
12 November, The Loft, 3A Commercial Street, LS1 6AL, 0113 234 1423. Tickets can be purchased online or at Accent Menswear, Piranha and Hip. For more information, visit http://www.leedsfashionshow.co.uk or contact 0113 219 0608

I have heard the standard of models, particularlly male models, is very low this year….hopefully this will not distract from the show!
