Preview Funksoulnation

One of Leeds' longest running and best known weekly funk nights

Preview: Funksoulnation

Home to a variety of different music nights, HiFi on Central Road hosts Funksoulnation every Friday.

For those who are tiring of the mainstream Leeds club nights, this is an alternative with a whole lot of style. As the title of the night makes apparent, Funksoulnation plays, well, funk and soul really. You will also hear hip-hop, boogie and contemporary beats. The tunes come from old and new artists from funksters Kool and the Gang and James Brown, to pint-sized enigma Prince; to 90s hip-hoppers De La Soul and the combination of these genres lends the night a real groove, a real feeling of cool. With music as good as this it’s almost impossible not to be drawn onto the dancefloor to shake your money maker, or perhaps tail feather, and luckily this basement club has ample space to throw some funky shapes.

There are often cheap drink offers at the generously stocked bar which might help motivate you to have a dance if you are showing a reluctance to begin with. However, with the music played at this evening it would be amazing if you keep yourself off the dancefloor.

If you fancy something a little different at the weekend, dust off your dancing shoes because Funksoulnation could be the night for you.

Every Friday, 10pm-3am, £5, £4 concs
