A judging team of expert foodies will travel the country in search of the very best home cooked recipes. The competition will be open to everyone and the nation will watch – with open mouths and rumbling tummies – as favourite dishes, bursting with family history and nostalgia as well as wonderful ingredients and flavours, battle it out in huge tasting sessions for the chance to win a major cash prize and an opportunity to cook for the country. At the end of the series one very special dish will be available to buy at M & S stores across the country, the day after the results are announced (all profits going to charity).
Elaine Bedell, ITV Director of Entertainment & Comedy says “ITV1 is the home of big popular entertainment and this new series will scour the nation to discover and celebrate our very best home cooks and bring them to the screen, as well as to the shelves of M&S. It is a unique project, with a unique combination of two exceptional producers, who are both rightly renowned for their expertise in entertainment and food programming – which is a perfect recipe in itself.”
Simon Cowell said, “I love home cooking, which is one of the reasons I wanted to make this show. No one can make roast potatoes like my Mum and I’m sure lots of people feel the same way about their family recipes. This is not a show for snobs. This is giving someone a chance to have their recipe sold in a Marks & Spencer store."
Pat Llewellyn, Optomen’s Managing Director, said “We’re delighted to be working with the world’s best entertainment production company and the high street’s best loved supermarket. The chance to uncover family recipes that the whole nation will get to enjoy is thrilling, taking food competition to a completely new level.”
Steve Sharp, M&S Executive Director, said: “M&S is famous for bringing high quality, innovative food to the nation’s tables and we’re always looking for new ideas to whet our customers’ appetites. It’s surely a dream opportunity for any budding home cook to have their much loved favourite family dish sold in our stores – we can’t wait to see what they’ll be cooking up.”
