Ellie Goulding’s debut album, Lights, has already reached number one status with what seems to have been a minimum amount of exposure; not quite the hard-grind of Florence whose album took a good six months to get absolutely everywhere.
Goulding - a 23 year old from Hereford - is playing her first headline gigs after having finished a tour with US electro boys Passion Pit, bringing her slightly sappy brand of radio-friendly 80s-esque synth pop to an audience who enjoyed her previous hits ‘Starry Eyed’ and ‘Under the Sheets’.
The versatile Goulding probably has a better voice than, say, Little Boots - a default comparison - and her well groomed band of indie boys should be enough to have her female admirers positively swooning.
