Preview: Don’t Falter at Baby Jupiter

On the first Saturday of every month Baby Jupiter is host to Don’t Falter, an evening for Leeds’ rock‘n’roll contingent. If the city’s dance and pop nights don’t do it for you and you prefer a bit of indie in your evening, this is a very decent option.

Leeds has had a happening rock‘n’roll scene for years with clubs such as The Think Tank (now Wire), Bassment, Subculture (both unfortunately now closed), HiFi and The Cockpit drawing in huge crowds week after week to various club nights. There are plenty of bars putting on exciting events too and among these venues Baby Jupiter rates as one of the best.

The subterranean 60s time capsule oozes cool and on any given night you can hear great music pumping out of its speakers and floating among a mixed crowd of boho types and suits – the latter present as the bar is nestled in the heart of Leeds’ legal district on York Place. This cosy retro haunt also hosts numerous club and live music nights at the weekend, such as Don’t Falter.

If you have a penchant for indie and you want to throw some shapes – or maybe just lean against a bar doing your best cool pose – Don’t Falter will welcome you with open arms and obliging DJs. Expect indie pop old and new, finest Britpop, post-punk, glam rock and shoegazer classics.

Leeds is known as a great city for rock ‘n’ roll and hopefully nights like Don’t Falter will continue to build this reputation. Check it out for yourself on the first Saturday of the month.
