This September, Harewood House are once again hosting a drive-in movie night for a filmic treat right from the comfort of your car. In 2009, the event was a sell-out success with Grease. This year, it had to be another American classic and general all-rounder, so get together your mum, dad, other half, best mate and cousin for a big-screen viewing of that iconic 80s gem Dirty Dancing.
You will need a working FM radio to be able to hear Baby and Johnny in action. This isn’t some segregating exercise intended to give the audience space from each other, though; quite the opposite. The last al fresco showing of Grease inspired the audience to get right out of their cars and dance around their bonnets. We defy you not to do the same when those first notes of ‘Be My Baby’ are played out across the grounds.
The event lands on the same day as one of the Heritage Open Days, so you can make a whole day of it and enjoy free entry to Harewood House from 10am-6pm. The Global Festival will also take place until 5pm, celebrating the ‘colours and rhythms of the world’ with music and dance workshops and performances, and much more.
Saturday 11th September, gates open 5.30pm, film starts approximately 8pm for 110mins (no interval). £25 per car/£30 per minibus (adv), £30 per car/£35 per minibus (otd)
