Preview Comedy Cellar
Edinburgh Festival comes to Huddersfield's Lawrence Batley Theatre
The LAWRENCE BATLEY THEATRE brings their monthly laugh fest that is the COMEDY CELLAR to the SYNGENTA CELLAR on THURSDAY 12 JULY at 8.00PM. Featuring DANNY McLOUGHLIN and BETHANY BLACK the show gives a taste of some of the comedic talent on show at the EDINBURGH FESTIVAL.
DANNY MCLOUGHLIN has the sharp wit and material, likeable persona and strong stage presence that have seen him become a much sought after act in his short time as a stand up.
With an amiable, confident stage presence and a well written set. Danny delivers material with more than just an immediate pay-off line, preferring to take the joke one or two steps further. Confident enough to take a risk on stage whilst making sure the audience hang on his ever word.
A finalist in the Chortle Student Comedian of The Year in 2008, Danny went on to perform as part of the prestigious Big Value Comedy Show during EDINBURGH FESTIVAL 2009. He also supported Al Pitcher on his UK Tour and is booked by some of the UK’s biggest gigs and promoters. It has been a rapid rise for Danny and it all looks set to continue.
Unique, striking, cutting… BETHANY BLACK is a one way ticket to a world you never knew existed. Once described as "unremarkable" by a clueless imbecile, she has gone on to astound and amuse audiences throughout the UK. She provides a sarcastic and dark view of the world’s taboo subjects in a neat PVC clad package. Slender, stunning and a constant source of confusion for the audience, Bethany will always leave you wanting more.
Bethany’s initial foray into comedy was as a compere between the bands at Preston’s infamous Club Fuzzy. Realising there’s no witty retort that can silence a thrown bottle, she decided to move onto to actual comedy clubs. Since then the self-styled Fairy Gothmother has plied her unique brand of dark off the wall observations right across the UK. In the last year she has played the Glastonbury Festival and several Bikers’ Festivals.
Bethany opened the Manchester Pride Festival in 2005 and has supported some of the biggest names on the circuit including comedy legend Mick Miller. She is now a regular weekend act at The Stand in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and is currently trying out for some of the most prestigious clubs on the comedy circuit.
Tickets for the LAWRENCE BATLEY THEATRE’S EDINBURGH PREVIEW with DANNY McLOUGHIN and BETHANY BLACK on THURSDAY 12 JULY are priced at £9 / Concessions £7. Book via the theatre box office on 01484 430528 or online at www.thelbt.org.
