Monday 30th August will see the return of Chapel Allerton’s annual summer Arts Festival, which is now in its 12th year.

Right through until Sunday 5th September, locals will be treated to live music, a mini film festival at Seven Arts Centre, a giant puppet parade, delicious food stalls, and plenty more eclectic activities. The musicians will perform at the weekend, with the main stage opening Friday night and hosting acts all day Saturday and Sunday.

Friday 3rd will also see the welcome return of Spud Theatre’s performance of Trainspotting at the Seven Arts Centre, which went down a storm when it was first performed there back in June. Also at Seven on Saturday 4th will be ‘Ad Hoc Baroque’, an exploration of 17th and 18th century music-making.

Sunday 5th will be Jazz Sunday, with artists such as the North Leeds Jazz Orchestra, Magic Hat Ensemble, Jenny Smith Quintet and Rod Mason’s elements.

The festival’s full line-up is to be announced in the coming weeks. Sunday’s free festival closing party at Seven Arts will see Soul Train entertaining crowds at 8pm, revisiting the Sixties with a mix of soul, ska, reggae, funk, mod, and R & B.
