A look ahead to the three day music festival celebrating all things DIY and noisy in Leeds music

Preview: British Wildlife

British Wildlife have been fairly busy since their conception back in 2006. This Spring they’re creating yet another almighty cocktail of noise with their annual festival.

The festival will be gracing three venues and boasts over 40 live bands, who, according to promoter Adam Nodwell, “don’t quite tick all the boxes” of mainstream music. You’ll find yourself pulled into the weirder and colourful side of timeless music and the alternative music scene.

In the past British Wildlife have hosted some of the greatest alternative acts around, including Sky Larkin, Copy Haho, Marnie Stern, Liars, UK Subs and Future Islands. With a smart roster of bands on their stage, they’ve also collaborated with Brainwash, Moor Musi Festival and Live at Leeds and have since launched a podcast for your rock’n'roll listening pleasure.

The promoters are touting the 2010 British Wildlife Festival line-up as ‘fit for a king’ with Domino records’ Max Tundra and Mogwai’s label buddies Part Chimp amidst a cacophony of Leeds institutions such as Bilge Pump, That Fucking Tank, Quack Quack & Napoleon IIIrd.

26-28 March, Brudenell Social Club, Nation of Shopkeepers and Royal Park Cellars, £15, for more information www.britishwildliferecords.com
