Joe Respite is an up-and-coming Leeds DJ with an interesting and eclectic taste in music. If you want to hear one of his sets you can catch him playing at the Limn night at Nation of Shopkeepers.
‘Make Me’ – Machine Drum (LuckyMe)
“The whole EP is amazing but this really combines Travis’ obsession with future beat music and the club sensibility that he carries throughout the record. I’m fully in love with the synth stabs on this song as well.”
‘Nova Olimpia’ – Mwëslee (Nod Navigators)
“Again, a really strong EP (the Eurocarne EP), but anything remotely 80s sounding usually catches my attention – it sounds like the Fatback Band on ketamine.
‘Abyss’ – The-Dream (Def Jam)
“‘Yamaha’ is obviously the biggest tune of this album (Love King), but ‘Abyss’ goes pretty hard in the club too and is one of my favourites to play out of the album. I’m also gearing up my R&B collection for a new night we’re starting at Nation of Shopkeepers.”
‘Bare Blips’ – Redinho (Numbers)
“This whole EP is as weird as it is danceable; this track in particular is something I play out a lot at Limn.”
‘Codename Dragonfly’ – Respite (LuckyMe)
“One of the finished tracks from my EP soon to come on LuckyMe records, it’s the sort of experimental beat music/electronica that I like to play at our monthly night, Limn. That kind of style tends to work pretty well with the live art and illustration we have every month.”
