After growing up in a hotbed of fairground house in his native Blackpool, Foz enjoyed the early days of Gatecrasher trance and spent some time in Ibiza, before leaving Blackpool for Leeds. He’s current;y Pet Sounds’ Room 2 resident down in the Underground at the Academy, where he offers the best in electro, new wave, hip-hop, dubstep, reggae and more. Now well over a year old and with a strong following, the event has attracted bands like the Courtneers, Bloc Party and Futureheads.
‘Vertigo’ - Paul Woolford (Junior)
“Came out in 2005, this is amazing rolling, acidic house. There’s a major percussive interlude which blows the roof off the club and still sounds original now. Great tune.”
‘H.A.L.’ - SebstiAn (Ed Banger)
“This starts off as pounding dubstep with futuristic beats then unexpectedly glides into euphoric sounding French house, reminiscent of the ‘Homework’ era of Daft Punk. Extremely innovative material, his music always seems to be miles ahead of what everyone else is making in his field.”
‘Coma Cat’ - Tensnake (Permanent Vacation)
“Hamburg’s Marco Niemerski slithered into his Tensnake skin to make this amazing disco house tune. Absolutely brilliant - can see this being one of the tunes of the year and hanging around for a while.”
‘Just A Little Bit More’ - Jamie Lidell (Luke Vibert mix) (Warp Records)
“Came across this recently and have been ploughing through loads of Vibert’s back catalogue. Dark trip-hop electro mixed with Jamie Lidell’s soulful voice, one of my favourite tunes at the moment.”
‘Heartbeats’ - Nneka (Chase & Status mix) (Yo Mama’s)
“The “we just bought a guitar” remix from C&S. Quite old now, mint tune that still goes off in the underground. Singer Nneka’s vocals sound wicked; I haven’t even heard the original version, I can imagine it sounds nothing like the remix!”
