Regular Rugby Super League news from Headingley Stadium

Leeds Rhinos: World Famous 'Round Here

That wasn’t bad, was it? Six wins in a row in league and cup and, all of a sudden, those who had written us off are insisting that they knew we would come good all along.

Of course, it could all come unstuck this Saturday (12th June) when we travel to Harlequins without some of our top players, all because RL chiefs thought it would be big and clever to stage a meaningless international match at the same time as Super League fixtures. They have also timed Saturday’s England v France match so that it will be totally overshadowed by England’s opener in the football World Cup, which is a truly international game – but that’s another story.

Let’s hope the lads can dig in for a victory over the improving Quins. Even if we slip-up, we remain on course for a top four finish at least – which could provide a sufficient platform for our play-off assault on Old Trafford. Next up at Headingley will be the Crusaders (20th June), after which we have a couple of cracking games in prospect: Warrington away (27th June) and St Helens at home (3rd July).

That Saints game will of course be a rehearsal for the Challenge Cup semi-final encounter, which for some reason won’t take place until August. That will be a full 10 weeks after our incredibly tense but ultimately thrilling 12-10 quarter-final defeat of Wigan.

Can’t wait? Well, there’s plenty of action before then, even without pretending that rugby league has an international presence. What’s wrong with the M62 corridor anyway?
