Antipodean sibling spin-doctors The Stafford Brothers have played at massive nights across the globe and are soon due to land at Leeds night Kissdafunk, held every month at Mission.
You guys have played in such glamorous places as New York, Las Vegas and Ibiza; how do you think Leeds will measure up?
We have actually worked in a studio in Leeds before, but never played any of the venues here. We have seen a lot of photos of the Kissdafunk dancers and also the club night itself going off, so we think it’s going to be great!
When did you first decide you wanted to be superstar DJs?
Probably as soon as we started. We always set our goals really high and hoped to achieve them.
What has been the biggest challenge of your careers?
Being from Australia it’s hard. You might be having massive success down there, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to success in other countries, so the biggest challenge is getting our music and name known in other parts of the world. Also, signing music to other labels internationally is quite hard now, because every label wants to own the tracks globally.
Can brothers who spend so much time together still get on?
We do get asked this a lot, and we guess we are just lucky that we do. To be honest, we are more like best mates, so it’s great getting to travel all around the world with one of your best mates having a good time.
You have never played Kissdafunk before; how excited are you about the night?
Extremely! We have noticed that a friend of ours Tom Neville is also playing on the night. We released a track together on Toolroom this year called ‘Come My Way’, so yes, we are really pumped.
How do you get a crowd to really react to your set?
Check out our videos of us on YouTube and you will see the way we perform is really animated. We definitely like to jump around and get the crowd doing the same.
