Feature Welcome to Yorkshire Michelin Star Experience
Highest number of Michelin stars for our county
The Pipe and Glass In, South Dalton nr Beverley
Who ever said London had all the gastronomic flair? It’s official; Yorkshire now boasts more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other county. To celebrate, the tourist board has come up with a foodies’ holiday named the ‘Welcome to Yorkshire Michelin Star Experience’.
The event is being promoted as a ‘corporate networking and team building package’, and includes visits to our region’s six Michelin-starred eateries. Also built into the trip are transport by helicopter, chef’s tables, the opportunity to play chef for a day and a chauffering service around the White Rose county.
To keep in with the culinary theme, it also incorporates visits to local producers, cheesemakers, vineyards and breweries. Not forgetting a stop-off at the Yorkshire Dales National Park to see where all that meat and cheese came from, and burn it off too!
Welcome to Yorkshire’s Chief Executive Gary Verity said of the project: “We are incredibly proud of our Michelin collection of restaurants in Yorkshire and our talented chefs. It is a great opportunity for us to showcase this to the corporate sector by putting together these unique one-off experiences”.
The restaurant which gained Yorkshire its record-breaking status this year was the Pipe and Glass Inn in South Dalton near Beverley, taking the total number of stars up to six. Those already awarded Michelin standing are the Yorke Arms in Ramsgill; The Burlington at The Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey; The Box Tree in Ilkley; The Star at Harome and The Old Vicarage in Sheffield.
