Azendi and Northern Ballet Theatre bring out set of sterling silver dance charms

Leeds Guide‘s formative years were punctuated by flouncing about in tutus and coveting those adorable jewellery boxes with the ballerina in the middle. And while we can’t speak for all women – or for that matter, the Leeds Guide as a single entity, to be honest – we’re pretty confident most will fall for the super-cute charms Azendi have come up with, inspired by Northern Ballet Theatre’s work.

The Leeds-based companies have collaborated on a series of nine charms, 20% of the profits from which goes toward Northern Ballet’s new centre of dance excellence at Quarry Hill, opening later this year.

The sterling silver charms, priced between £25 and £45, include the enamelled fan from NBT’s Madame Butterfly, a swan from Swan Lake, pointe shoes, a grand piano and a ballerina’s tutu.

Having seen a number of NBT performances, Azendi’s designer Kasun was inspired to create the collection, “Watching NBT perform, it became clear straight away that ballet could be a great source of inspiration. Creativity and innovation are at the heart of both organisations, both taking ideas from the classical and the contemporary. I feel the charms are the perfect embodiment of the beauty and grace, the musicality and the creativity of what I saw in NBT performances.”
