Feature: Leeds and Reading Festival Comedy Line-Up Announced
The comedians who will perform at this year’s Leeds and Reading festivals have now been revealed. Emo Phillips, who is currently touring the UK, and Rufus Hound will be the headliners of Leeds’ Alternative Stage on the Saturday. On the Friday, Russell Kane and Kevin Bridges will entertain audiences in the alternative tent, and on Sunday Jason Byrne and Stephen K Amos will grace the stage.
Other comedians lined up to appear include Robin Ince, Adam Bloom, Matt Kirshen, Abandoman, Jason John Whitehead, Matt Reid, Jamie Kilstein, Dave Twentyman, Glenn Wool, Christian Reilly, Jamie Kilsteim Charlie Baker and a filmed comedy showcase, Popcorn Comedy.
All of these shows will take place during the day, with the tent playing host to films and DJs by night. MC Afrikan Boy will also be there, as well as UK beatboxing champion Beardyman. Musician Eddie Argos will treat festival-goers to an acoustic set of re-worked songs, whilst poets Luke Wright and Laura Dockrill will provide something a little different. The legendary Swap-a-Rama will also be back; every time the klaxon sounds during the eclectic background soundtrack, everyone must swap an item of clothing with the person next to them!
Films being shown this year are rock n roll vampire thriller Suck, The Doors documentary When You’re Strange, and the surreal sociopathic tale of elderly peeping toms, Trash Humpers (shown to surprising acclaim at last year’s Leeds Internation Film Festival).
