Competition WIN! Free Kulfi Ice-Cream For Your Party

Award winning kulfi makes Indie Ices will deliver ice creams to your door

Competition: WIN! Free Kulfi Ice-Cream For Your Party

Mike Tattersall heads a one-man company, which makes hand-made traditional kulfi in his home kitchen in Roundhay.

Launched in March 2009, Indie Ices has achieved critical acclaim from the outset, winning a gold star for his mango kulfi in the Yorkshire Post Readers’ Taste Awards last year. This year, Mike has added to his rapidly-growing collection of accolades with a gold star for his Champagne kulfi and two gold stars for his almond and pistachio kulfi in the prestigious Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards.

Serving up freshly-made kulfi, ice cream and sorbets from his tricycle, Mike prides himself in providing vegetarian and gluten-free products, which combine traditional flavours with some of the more unusual.

Similar to ice cream, kulfi is a traditional Indian dessert and has no air whipped into it, creating a deliciously creamier and denser texture. All but the almond and pistachio kulfi are nut-free and all the sorbets, made from fresh fruit, ice and sugar beat, are dairy-free, so Indie Ices can satisfy everyone on a hot summer day.

So what does Mike think about his achievements? “I am really excited that I have achieved the most stars of any of the Yorkshire ice cream producers who entered and I am the only one who has, this year, achieved a two star accolade, which considering my day job is actually being a house husband is quite incredible. I am looking forward to enjoying my Champagne moment at the awards ceremony at Fortnum and Mason in September.”

You can also find Indie Ices at the Oakwood and Headingley Farmers’ Markets during the summer months, or visit www.indie-ices.co.uk

To celebrate his success, Mike is offering one lucky Leeds Guide reader the chance to get Indie Ices kulfi delivered for a barbecue or party for up to 100 guests

Competition open to Leeds residents with an LS postcode only. Residents of LS6, 7 and 8 will get their ice cream delivered by Mike on his trike, residents elsewhere will get their kulfi delivered in a cool box. Competition closes 19th August.

To be in with a chance of winning answer this simple question.

The two main ingredients of ice cream are what?
