Bradford Bulls A Busy Easter

Fortnightly Super League news from Odsal Stadium

A tough Easter schedule for the Bradford Bulls saw them take on three separate opponents in Super League over a period of only ten days. The first was the always mouth-watering clash between the Bulls and Leeds Rhinos. Disappointing from a Bradford perspective when you consider that they had established a 16-6 half time lead on their arch-rivals home soil, it was bitter-sweet to say the least when the Bulls had to hold on for a 20-20 draw in the end.

Fortune favoured Bradford a little better a few days later when Brian Noble returned to Odsal with the Crusaders. The Welsh side had claimed their first ever Super League victory in the respective fixture last season and the home team were keen to avoid a repeat. Like so many scorelines this season, the final outcome of 20-14 didn’t truly reflect the Bulls’ dominance, especially when they scored four tries to Crusaders’ two. However in the middle of a tough Easter campaign, you cannot complain too much and two points must equal job done.

A victorious trip to Catalan was the final hurdle in a hectic week and a half – somewhere where Bradford had never lost in Super League, and with a win of 36-14 that record never looked like being broken – a highlight being Ricki Sheriffe going over the line three times to get a hatrick.

Many fans would be pretty happy going away from the Easter period with five points from six. Likewise it will have given the squad much confidence going into their first cup game of the season – against Championship side Dewsbury – as well as their next home fixture against the always tough Hull KR.
