EDITOR'S LETTER

Tom Goodhand - Leeds Guide editorI've got my jester's hat out of the back of my wardrobe, I've cleaned last year's mud off my wellies and I'm about to pop out and buy a cool box. Yep, it's well and truly festival season now: the two months every year when lax hygiene, ugly footwear and ludicrous headwear are actually positively encouraged. Wonderful.

To help you plan your festivals we've drawn up a list of all the events going on around Yorkshire -- both large and small -- and picked out the biggest and best of the festivals across the rest of the country, too.

So whether you like classy boutique festivals where you can get out the hamper and the champers or big band fests where it's all about downing beer and leaping around in mosh pits, you'll be able to find the perfect festival for your needs. For those who like to follow my music section, we've also run down all the places you can see your favourite Leeds acts, so you can trail them around muddy fields like a deranged stalker. Lucky you.

We all know that festivals can be a bit of a logistical nightmare, so we've dedicated our 'Six of the Best' feature to festival essentials to help you plan what to bring with you this year. We've also got giveaways for MP3 players and speakers, so you can entertain yourself when the music stops. Finally, with the football season being upon us, we've got a preview of Leeds United's season, including an interview with the folk at Leeds United's official matchday team at Yorkshire Radio, and we have a £100 portable DAB radio to give away, so you can follow your team, and hopefully listen to them gain promotion back to the Championship. Fingers crossed, eh?
