Classical University Choir and Symphony Orchestra

Wed 22nd June 2011 (7.30pm)

The combined forces of the University Choir and Orchestra provide a rare opportunity to hear a live performance of Beethoven’s massive Choral Symphony and its fourth movement setting of Schiller’s An die Freude (‘Ode to Joy’) for chorus and solo team. First performed in Salzburg in 1783, the ‘Great’ Mass in C minor remained incomplete at Mozart’s death but nevertheless works wonderfully as a concert piece.
