Classical The Greatest Story Ever Told? - New York Mystery Plays

Fri 17th June 2011 (7.30pm)

The New York Mystery Plays is a new, contemporary response to an ancient artform. Central to the heritage of York, the idea of a public entertainment which was written by the people is revived in a new, 21st-century format, incorporating digital imaging and audio. Pre-Renaissance music meets new composition in this spectacular production developed entirely by the students of the Department of Music for this event. Featuring past and present narratives told through instrumental and vocal performance, the New York Mystery Plays offers a glimpse of the future.
