Bradford Bulls Two More Losses
Fortnightly Super League news from The Odsal
It’s an all too familiar tale of two losses again this fortnight.
Coming straight off a humiliating performance against Huddersfield, many would have thought the first game against the Crusaders would have been just the challenge the Bulls needed to get back to winning ways. Not to be, as the Crusaders – who are fast becoming the latest bogey side for Bradford – racked up their biggest score in Super League to date, racking up 44 points to the Bradford 20. That week Steve McNamara had taken charge of his first full match as England RL head coach, so maybe…
Bradford Bulls Sackloads of Disappointment
Fortnightly Rugby Super League news from Odsal
Disappointment in sackloads at Odsal this fortnight, although for slightly different reasons. First up was a close and bruising encounter in the Challenge Cup against Warrington – who, incidentally, are the current holders of the trophy. Not an easy task, and it was one that was made even harder when the Wolves went up 12-0 in the opening quarter of an hour and Bradford’s chance of the first semi-final spot in three years fading fast.
However the Bulls managed to close the gap to two points before half time to set up an exhilarating and thrilling second half where both…
Bradford Bulls A Shaky Fortnight
Fortnightly Rugby Super League news from Odsal Stadium
A shaky fortnight to say the least for the Bulls. The first fixture against Wakefield at Belle Vue is always a tough one for the Bradford outfit. Regardless of where Trinity are in the league, they always step up when the Bulls come to town, meaning the matches are always tight affairs.
This match certainly was no exception. The first half started much like Bradford’s last Super League outing against the Crusaders, with the Bulls coming out of the traps with expert enthusiasm and a few chances, but taking none of them. Wakefield, though, managed to bide their time and…
Bradford Bulls A Small Blip
Fortnightly Super League news from Odsal
Mixed fortunes again for the Bradford Bulls this fortnight, kicking off with a desperate performance at Murrayfield. The magic weekend has never been a happy hunting ground for the Bulls with only one win ever coming from the fixture – that being last year’s outing against Wakefield.
Alas there was to be no repeat of that as the Crusaders thrashed a sorry looking Bradford outfit 19-0. In the first five minutes that certainly didn’t look to be the case, but suddenly after the clock was stopped following an injury, the Bulls became disappointingly disinterested, never really threatening to get into…
Bradford Bulls An Encouraging Fortnight
Fortnightly Rugby League news from Odsal
An encouraging fortnight for the Bulls saw two comprehensive victories in as many weeks.
The first saw them get through their opening encounter in this year’s Challenge Cup campaign. It was a trip to Championship side Dewsbury for the Bulls and it was clear from the opening few minutes that it was extremely unlikely that an upset would be on the cards.
Bradford had too much skill and power for a Rams side that still managed to give it their all. The final score of 50-0 was arguably unfair, especially as Dewsbury’s defence only let in two tries in the…
Bradford Bulls A Busy Easter
Fortnightly Super League news from Odsal Stadium
A tough Easter schedule for the Bradford Bulls saw them take on three separate opponents in Super League over a period of only ten days. The first was the always mouth-watering clash between the Bulls and Leeds Rhinos. Disappointing from a Bradford perspective when you consider that they had established a 16-6 half time lead on their arch-rivals home soil, it was bitter-sweet to say the least when the Bulls had to hold on for a 20-20 draw in the end.
Fortune favoured Bradford a little better a few days later when Brian Noble returned to Odsal with the Crusaders.…
Bradford Bulls Another Inconsistent Fortnight
Fortnightly Super League news from Odsall
Inconsistency was once again rife this fortnight, as the Bulls chalked up both a win and a loss.
The lost came in the first fixture, away against Hull FC. The KC Stadium is always a hard place to go to get a result, and this match was no exception. The Bulls were in the low-scoring contest right up until just after half-time, when FC full back Jordan Tansey scored either side of the break. The dismal conditions meant a points-fest was never on the cards and Hull gained a lead that Bradford could never gain back, resulting in an 18-6…
Bradford Bulls Ups and Downs
Fortnightly Super League news from Odsal
A fortnight of ups and downs for the Bradford Bulls, as they registered one win from two against two of the Super League’s most in-form teams.
The highlight undoubtedly was the home fixture against Wigan - or more accurately the second half against Wigan. The first stanza had seen the Warriors dominate thoroughly, with Bradford’s defence being spectacularly reminiscent of the lacklustre performance against St.
Helens a couple of weeks previously. With Wigan leading 20-0 at the break it looked like game over. However, the Bulls produced a stunning second half comeback thanks to Matt Orford - whose positive contribution…
Bradford Bulls Things Looking Up
Fortnightly Super League rugby news from Odsal
A distinctly better second fortnight of the campaign for the Bradford Bulls - especially compared to the first - with two wins from two hit outs.
The first win was against a Castleford Tigers team who had impressed in their own opening couple of fixtures and initially looked to be a banana skin for the Bulls. However with a blitz of four tries in the opening half alone, the Tigers never looked to be properly in the game. It was also the first time the new halfback combination of Brett Kearney and Matt Orford really gelled, creating the majority of…
Bradford Bulls A Poor Start
Fortnightly Rugby League news from Odsall
To say that the start of the season had been anything less than a disappointment for the Bradford Bulls would be a gross understatement.
Whilst it was never going to be an easy prospect facing two of last season’s top four to kick off the campaign, renewed off-season optimism - thanks to some potentially good recruitment - meant that most fans hoped the Bulls could make a good fist of it.
To be fair, after a stale start in the opening match against Huddersfield, it looked like Bradford could get something out of it, but thanks to a sturdy Huddersfield…
